I am now completely finished with the Grapes of Wrath. It was a very long book, probably the longest book that I “actually” read, but was a great read. I was bored in the beginning, but after I got into the meaty part of the plot my attention was drawn in and it didn’t leave until I finished the book. While reading the novel I wondered if Steinbeck was a communist because of some of the ideas that were introduced, so after I was done I did a quick google to see if my curious thought was correct and found out that many perceived him to be a communist.

Upon reading 300 pages of the novel, the plot seems to have started to slow down, although I dont think that it has climaxed yet. I think that the next time that I go to read, I will end up finishing the duration of the novel because I am that curious as to how this all wraps up.

After finishing 200 pages of the novel, I have noticed that I don’t want to put the book down when I start reading. Steinbeck has done an incredible job at making sure that his readers are not bored with the story, even though this book was first published long before my generation.

I finished 100 pages of the novel, which puts me at the end of chapter ten. I am confident that the story is picking up as I am starting to become more captivated with the main characters story. I have decided to go on with this novel.

After finishing the first few chapters of the novel, i wasn’t sure if I wanted to continue on with it or not, as I was bored reading it and it is a really long novel. I asked my mom what she had to say about this, and after contemplating options, I felt that I would give the book at least 100 pages until I legitimately changed my mind.

After I made my decision to read the Grapes of Wrath, it was necessary to get this choice approved by Mr. Kreinbring. I approached him during a class to see whether he would think the novel would work for the project. Unsurprisingly, he responded back to me that it would be an excellent y choice and that the novel woud be a good read.

When our class was first introduced to the Critical Research Project and that we would have to choose a novel with literary merit, my first reaction was to talk with my mother as she is an avid reader. After my discussion with her we narrowed my selection down to two books, the Grapes of Wrath and the Cloud Atlas. I looked at both of these novels extensively and decided moving on with the Grapes of Wrath would be my best choice.
